Mudvayne and Incubus both announced on Tuesday (Sept. 21) that they were dropping off the lineups of upcoming festivals due to COVID cases in their camps. In the case of make-up metalers Mudvayne, it was after singer Chad Gray and some others in their crew tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the band to bail on their appearance at this weekend’s Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky.

“Loudmouths, we are bummed to inform you that Mudvayne is no longer able to perform this Sunday,” the festival announced on Facebook. “While we were eagerly looking forward to their performance at Louder Than Life, we are beyond excited to announce that Breaking Benjamin has been added to the Sunday lineup.”

The group revealed that after taking “every precaution” and following the CDC’s Covid protocols during rehearsals and recent performances, Gray and “a few” staff members tested positive. “The safety of our organization, fans and festival partners must come first. We are left no choice but to cancel our performance at Louder Than Life this weekend,” they wrote. “Apologies to all the fans attending the festival this weekend. We look forward to getting everyone healthy and ready for our Aftershock and Welcome To Rockville performances later this year. We appreciate your love & support throughout these unprecedented times.”

Meanwhile, Incubus, who were announced as replacements for Limp Bizkit at the Friday’s (Sept. 24) Rebel Rock Festival in Orlando after LB canceled all their 2021 festival dates amid the current COVID surge, had to drop out of their headlining slot due to unspecified “complications with COVID-19″ in their touring entourage.

“Due to the continued complications with COVID-19 in our touring camp, we must cancel our appearance at @rebelrockfest on September 24th. As much as we’d love to be there, the health & safety of the fans, band and crew is our top priority,” the band wrote on Instagram. “We’re looking forward to getting back on the road this Fall to finish our tour and we want to thank you for all the love & support as we all navigate through this. We’ll see you all soon!”
