Lots of firsts were celebrated this week.

Over the weekend, Travis Barker took his first flight since he survived a deadly plane crash in 2008. He shared the experience with girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian, with whom he escaped to Cabo, Mexico, for a romantic getaway. Coming from a different rock act, Foo Fighters are set to receive the first-ever global icon award at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards in September.

And while The Weeknd set a new record on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Blinding Lights” spending its historic 88th week on the chart, and a new Billboard chart debuted that’s the first-ever creator-centered music chart.

Spotted: JT at … Target? The singer ditched a suit and tie when a viral TikTok video from Thursday (Aug. 19) showed the Man of the Woods artist working the checkout counter at what appeared to be a Colorado store. And his former *NSYNC bandmate Lance Bass had a few words to say about it when he commented underneath the clip, “This guy looks oddly familiar. I can’t place it.” See the video here.

Sweetest Music News: Travis Barker takes first flight since 2008 with Kourtney Kardashian

On Saturday (Aug. 14), the Blink-182 drummer flew for the first time since surviving a deadly plane crash that killed four passengers in 2008. Savviest Music News: Billboard launches new Song Breaker chart with Logitech

Billboard announced its newest Song Breaker chart on Tuesday (Aug. 17) with Logitech For Creators, which is the first-ever creator-centered music chart. The monthly chart will rank digital creators who are driving music consumption through their content creation, with Lizzo and Jason Derulo among the 20 who are highlighted for the month of August. Most Record-Breaking Music News: The Weeknd breaks record for longest charting song on Billboard Hot 100

Ooh we’ve been blinded by the lights for the last 88 weeks, as The Weeknd’s Hot 100 topper “Blinding Lights” breaks the chart’s longevity record. The song beats out “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons, which spent 87 weeks on the all-genre tally from 2012 to 2014. “Big day for blinding lights,” he wrote on Instagram on Monday (Aug. 16). “For the last decade every song has been a journey and to be able to continue this journey has been nothing short of a blessing.
