Swedish House Mafia has confirmed that they’re playing Coachella 2022.

In a social media post on Wednesday (Oct. 20) the dance trio launched a video with the message “Swedish House Mafia Live Coachella 2022.” In its own post, Coachella shared an image of the trio in shadow superimposed over the desert festival site.

This set is the first Swedish House Mafia show announced for 2022 and the group’s first major festival play since the trio reconvened with new music this past July after a nearly 10-year hiatus.

On Dec. 5 they’re also slated to play the Audacy Beach Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in a set that will be their first performance since a 14-date spring/summer tour in 2019. The Fort Lauderdale show will be the group’s first in the United States since they reunited at Ultra Music Festival 2018 after a five-year break.

The Coachella set this April also marks the 10-year anniversary of the trio’s first Coachella show. The group — Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell — announced they were breaking up just weeks after playing the main stage at the 2012 event. A representative for Coachella did not immediately respond to requests for comment about whether the 2022 Swedish House Mafia performance will be a headlining set.

It does seem likely that the Coachella set will come ahead of a global tour. In their July Billboard cover story, the trio confirmed that they’re planning a 2022 global outing that will mostly hit Live Nation-affiliated or -aligned arenas and stadiums. The group’s collaboration with The Weeknd, “Moth To A Flame,” is expected to drop this week.

Rage Against The Machine and Travis Scott have also been confirmed as headliners for Coachella 2022, which will happen over consecutive weekends on April 15-17 and April 22-24. This past August, Goldenvoice Founder Paul Tollett announced that Frank Ocean — who was scheduled to play Coachella 2020 alongside the other two acts before the show was cancelled due to the pandemic — will headline the 2023 festival.

Coachella 2022 will be the first iteration of the event to happen since 2019 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
