3…2…1…the Rocket Man blasts off with The Lockdown Sessions, an album which, as its title suggests, was recorded remotely over the past 18 months.

As the pandemic set in, Elton John switched gears and recorded The Lockdown Sessions with a starry-cast of guests, and across a smorgasbord of styles (all with that Elton touch).

More than 20 artists feature on the new record, an unprecedented call-out across Elton’s career. Its lineup includes Stevie Wonder, Miley Cyrus, Stevie Nicks and the late Glenn Campbell, with Elton, at times, slotting into session-musician mode.

Sessions spans 16 tracks, including 10 new, unreleased numbers. The party starts right at the top with the disco-tinged hit “Cold Heart,” featuring Dua Lipa and remixed by Aussie electronic trio Pnau. “Cold Heart” is the current No. 1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, and on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and U.S. Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales charts.

With “Cold Heart,” Elton became the first artist to score a U.K. Top 10 single in six different decades. And in the U.S., he made history when the song debuted at No. 81 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking John’s 68th entry on the chart, and his first appearance in over 21 years, after his song “Someday Out of the Blue” reached No. 99 on the chart dated July 29, 2000.
