“Butter” leads streaming, video, and radio airplay this week, while also performing well in downloads (No. 4) and Twitter mentions (No. 21). While streams for the global hit have decreased — from 29,935,364 last week to 18,729,013 this week — it still leads back number’s “Kaitou” (the song at No. 2 for the metric) by more than double the number of weekly streams. Likewise in video views, “Butter” is down to 11,348,160 from last week’s 15,694,345, but it’s still more than 4.5 times the number of views that Ado’s “Odo” (2,391,760) accumulated this week.
Kenshi Yonezu’s highly anticipated new single “Pale Blue” debuts at No. 2 this week. The theme of the drama series Rikokatsu is the J-pop hitmaker’s first release since his best-selling album STRAY SHEEP from last August. After dropping digitally on May 31, the track racked up 84,385 downloads to lead the metric, and also came in at No. 2 for radio, No. 3 for Twitter, No. 6 for video, and No. 7 for streaming. With the CD set to go on sale June 16 and the track leaving room for improvement in streaming and video, it looks like the song will remain in the upper tiers of the tally for a while.
V6’s new single “Bokura wa mada” bows at No. 3, selling 123,784 CDs in its first week to come in at No. 1 for physical sales. The track is the veteran Johnny’s boy band’s first release since announcing its disbandment, and longtime fans have come though to boost the track in various metrics with only six months left to support the group: Twitter (No. 1), look-ups (No. 2), and radio (No. 29). The theme of the television series Tokusou 9 season 4 starring member Yoshihiko Inohara sold more than 15,000 copies more than the group’s previous release called “It’s My Life” (105,058 first-week sales).
