Just get in the car and drive. That’s the take-away from Billie Eilish’s latest preview of her upcoming (Sept. 3) Disney+ special, Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles. In the intense video that dropped on Tuesday (August 31), the animated Disney princess version of Eilish hops into her sleek silver convertible and guns it for a night drive as the dramatic beat of the song “Oxytocin” bubbles up in the background.
The action then switches to the stage of the Hollywood Bowl, where Eilish, bathed in a flashing cascade of red lights, sings the track from her Happier Than Ever album with accompaniment from a drummer and producer brother Finneas on keyboards.
The movie was directed by Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Spy Kids) and Oscar-winner Patrick Osborne (Wreck-It-Ralph, Bolt) and promises to take viewers on a “dreamlike journey through Billie’s hometown of Los Angeles and its most iconic backdrops.” Among the guests who join Eilish are Finneas, as well as the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus, the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by music and artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel and Brazilian guitarist Romero Lubambo. The orchestral arrangements were done by David Campbell (Ariana Grande, Harry Styles).
